When purchasing this product, please note it is a REFILL and includes a clear cup with caterpillars and food ONLY. Be sure to provide a habitat in which your butterflies will emerge, or purchase one of our Butterfly Kits that include everything you need!

All non-live orders leave our offices within 1-3 working days unless the item(s) are out of stock, or if your order includes a Live product with a chosen send-out date of 3 weeks or less away (in which case we will dispatch all goods, live and non-live, on the requested send out date).

Once your order is dispatched, standard delivery time for the UK is approximately 1- 4 working days, depending on your location. Please allow 10 days for orders outside of the UK. A Next Working Day option is available for UK delivery only (excludes weekends).

"Unfortunately only one caterpillar survived to the chrisalide stage which we are currently at. As a childminder I have bought these every year for the children to observe and never had any issues so not sure what went wrong this time but I do know it’s not guaranteed for them to all hatch. The set contains everything you need to repeat the wonderful process of raising caterpillars, and you get all the same tips and advice from Insect Lore as first time around. Also worth noting that the website FAQs are really helpful! One of our chrysalides fell off the lid. . . but we knew what to do! Hi there! I’m just wondering about next year’s order. I’m a Reception teacher and our topic for this half term has been all about spring. The children have loved watching the caterpillars grow and they were delivered on 6th March, but they did not pupate before the start of the Easter holidays (today). I’m looking ahead to next year to see if I can order the caterpillars any earlier so that the children can hopefully see them pupate before the Easter break. I know they are only available between March and September, but will I be able to preorder caterpillars to be dispatched or delivered on 1st March 2027? Sorry for the long question! Thank you in advance.: Hello Hannah, Because Easter was so early this year, we were advising people to order after Easter this year. Apologies, if you did not receive this message! With Easter being even earlier this year, even if you order for our first dispatch you will still not have enough time as the process can take 5 weeks in March! We would advise next year, doing the project after the Easter Holidays.
