The School Kit Caterpillar Refill includes 33 caterpillars and all of the nutritious food they need to develop into beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies. 33 small vials are also provided so each child can carefully house and observe his or her very own caterpillar.

The School Kit Refill Includes:

33 LIVE caterpillars or voucher (caterpillars available March to Mid-September)
Specially formulated, ready to use, caterpillar food (1 large and 1 small cup)
33 vials and lids
66 sticking pads
Feeding pipette
Plastic spoon
Food levelling tool
Sugar packet
Small transfer brush
Instruction guide

This product is a REFILL set only, a habitat is not included. Be sure to provide a Butterfly Pavilion Habitat in which to house your butterflies or if you'd like to purchase a full kit, please click here.

Please note - Immediately upon receipt of the caterpillars, you will need to distribute the food and caterpillars between the vials, instructions on how to do this are included. If you should receive more than 33 caterpillars, any remaining may stay and develop in the cup they arrived in.

All non-live orders leave our offices within 1-3 working days unless the item(s) are out of stock, or if your order includes a Live product with a chosen send-out date of 3 weeks or less away (in which case we will dispatch all goods, live and non-live, on the requested send out date).

Once your order is dispatched, standard delivery time for the UK is approximately 1- 4 working days, depending on your location. Please allow 10 days for orders outside of the UK. A Next Working Day option is available for UK delivery only (excludes weekends).

My pupils are only 2

Great Service

"I bought a small kit last year to see how we went. It was such a Joy and a success that this year I bought the school kit for all of the children. After two weeks twelve of the caterpillars did not grow at all and had died. Insect Lore immediately replaced the lost ones. Glad to say they are all doing well and we are waiting for them to emerge. We are delighted and will be buying again next year."

31 Butterflys made it

"Wonderfull set, we bought now 4th tiem for the school clas. We recieved a total of 36 caterpillars. As for the food, there are two cups and the second cup was a little bit hidden. So maybe there should be somewhere a comment ""here is the 2nd cup"". All in all very nice. a total of 31 butterflys made it. 4 had problems with making the crysalis and one was somehow dried out. So 31 od 36 made it. . . nice experience."

Excellent STEM Activity

"This is the third year we have ordered school kits through Insect Lore and have had a huge uptick in attendance to our STEM projects during Science week - timing is always critical but this year we managed to set the caterpillars up so they emerged just after half term.
