A Fun Experience

"The first batch of eggs I received unfortunately did not hatch, but I was sent replacements and they hatched in a week. Be sure to follow the feeding instructions (using the correct amount of food) as they are very ravenous when they are big. Out of the 16 eggs I received, 10 of the silkworms managed to cocoon and emerge as moths (those that died were hatchlings, it is common for some to die at this stage because they are very fragile). Overall it has been a very fun experience to raise these fascinating insects with my little brother."

Beautiful little creatures

"I have not reared these little guys before so took the plunge. Talk about eat you out of house and home, but they certainly grow fast. I would advise people to think about where you keep them as thay do not like low temperatures, their optimum is 21 degrees c, which in December is very difficult to maintain. I have 2 now which have reached 3/4"" long and as soon as I put fresh food in, they zoom in on it. Looking forward to the next stage. Insect Lore have been most helpful with queries and fully supportive all the way. Our stick insects bought back in the summer are now doing very well. The smallest is in the region of 4. 5"" so they have done very well. I had to buy a bigger more spacious home for them which made it easier for them to get around in, also it means I can feed them through a hatch in the lid rather than moving them by hand to change bedding and food."
