Talk about eat you out of house and home, but they certainly grow fast.
I would advise people to think about where you keep them as thay do not like low temperatures, their optimum is 21 degrees c, which in December is very difficult to maintain.

Looking forward to the next stage.
Insect Lore have been most helpful with queries and fully supportive all the way.
Our stick insects bought back in the summer are now doing very well. The smallest is in the region of 4.5" so they have done very well. I had to buy a bigger more spacious home for them which made it easier for them to get around in, also it means I can feed them through a hatch in the lid rather than moving them by hand to change bedding and food. The silkworms are able to be reared all year around. However, we are unable to send them out if it is too cold.
It is important to keep the temperature fairly constant. The eggs normally take between 7-21 days to hatch and should be kept somewhere warm, but out of direct sunlight. If the room temperature drops overnight, move the eggs to somewhere warmer or surround them in a blanket.
You do nto want to put them by a direct heat source, but the warmest part of your home is ideal for them.
The silkmoths, cannot be released and you will keep them for their entire lifespan.
You should be fine at this temperature! If you have a slightly warmer spot or somewhere free of drafts this will help further.
The moths, can live in the tub provided, or a shoebox can be used at a later time.
Unfortunately, we do not sell the eggs and food separately. The tubs for the silkworms we provide is about the size of a takeaway container, but a little deeper!
