Ce kit éducatif offre aux enfants, aux étudiants et aux familles une occasion inoubliable d'observer les chenilles se transformer en chrysalides, puis émerger en magnifiques papillons Belle-Dame. Élevez et nourrissez vos propres papillons, puis relâchez-les dans la nature ! La transformation complète de la chenille en papillon adulte prend environ trois à cinq semaines.

Voyez une transformation incroyable

3 à 5 chenilles (une culture de papillons vivants) arriveront dans un gobelet en plastique transparent avec toute la nourriture nutritive dont elles ont besoin. Placez le gobelet dans un endroit sûr, à l'abri de la lumière directe du soleil. Les chenilles y resteront et mangeront, fileront de la soie et grandiront jusqu'à dix fois leur taille initiale ! Au bout de sept à dix jours, elles seront suspendues la tête en bas et durciront en chrysalides (aussi appelées pupes).

Élevez vos propres papillons

Une fois les chrysalides durcies, déplacez-les délicatement vers l'habitat des papillons. Il leur faudra environ sept à dix jours supplémentaires pour se transformer en papillons adultes.

L'habitat du Jardin des Papillons est un récipient cylindrique en maille réutilisable, idéal pour observer les papillons de près ! Lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé, il se replie pour un rangement facile. Pour élever d'autres papillons, commandez simplement une recharge de la Tasse de Chenilles ici .

Absolutely amazing

"We received 5 little caterpillars and me and my two boys enjoyed watching them grow and slowly turn into their chrysalis. Two had fallen to the bottom but I reattached them to the lid with a bit of leftover webbing they had made. A few days later we had five beautiful painted lady butterflies. We gave them a final feed and enjoyed watching them flying away across the trees and rooftops once they'd gotten their bearings to being outside. Was a wonderful experience for my children to see the wonder of nature within the confines of their own home. My children have always grown up knowing a respect for the natural world is so important so it was lovely to see my three year old being so gentle with them and watching them fly away to finish their cycle. They had them at his nursrey but unfortunately the hatching/coming out of the cocoon coincided with the school holidays so he missed the process so this was lovely for him to observe. I would like to get this for my Sons birthday in July, this this time of year still ok?: Hello, Yes! We supply caterpillars through to mid-September so it is the perfect time of year!
Doe it come with the caterpillars I am a bit confused?: Hello Violette, The kit can either come with a voucher to redeem for the caterpillars later (perfect for gifts) or Live Caterpillars. When you click 'Select options' on the product page, you will be able to select the chosen option.

Hello, I have a butterfly emerging from its cocoon but it appears to be stick to the cocoon despites its efforts to get out from it since this early morning. Hi, I'm at the Chrysalides stage with my caterpillars. 1 is still yet to cocoon but of the cocoon have fallen off the lid. Do i transfer the fallen cocoons to the butterfly kit?: Hello Nolene, Your caterpillars are roughly the same age. This last caterpillar just might need a little more time to ingest enough nutrients to make the transformation. Just give it a couple more days! Once it does form you will then need to wait 3 days before moving all of the chrysalis over. If you are still waiting for the last one to climb to the top of the cup 7 days after the first chrysalis formed, you will need to transfer the chrysalides into the hatching habitat and replace the lid with a piece of kitchen paper secured with an elastic band. This will give the last one something to attach to! Do not worry about fallen chrysalis as this happens in the wild and the caterpillar should emerge as normal. When you are ready to transfer the chrysalides over to the habitat (3 days after the last one in the pot has formed) gently scoop any fallen ones up with a spoon and place on a piece of kitchen paper at the bottom of the habitat near the edge and they should be perfectly fine. You may need to give them a gentle clean with a cotton bud to remove any silk or frass from them.
